Dear Guests

Welcome aboard!

I feel honoured to welcome you onboard our flight, and to share my first message to you since taking the helm of Ethiopian Airlines as CEO. I am also happy to see our beloved inflight magazine ‘Selamta’ revived as a fresh and vibrant digital version, some two years after you last read it.

The COVID-19 pandemic has obviously shaken the aviation business to the core; and we were not spared. Yet, thanks to our agility and diversified business model, we have survived the storm. In fact, we continued our service even amid the turbulence and helped in the fight against this menace.

In the immediate aftermath of the pandemic, we made hundreds of repatriation flights around the world, and reunited tens of thousands of families. We also carried countless medical supplies including personal protective equipment, test kits and nearly 1 billion COVID-19 vaccines to different corners of the world. We feel proud that we helped in saving people’s lives.

As a customer-centric airline, we have been rolling out multi-channel digital platforms to give you seamless end-to-end travel experience. We have also put in place digital amenities at Addis Ababa International Airport to make your airport experience contactless and ensure your safety. Our onboard service has also been redesigned with your safety in mind, but without compromising the quality of your inflight experience.

Now that the dust is settling and things are getting back to normal, we have restarted most of the flights we had suspended following the pandemic. Better yet, we are expanding our global network. We are now shuttling between Addis Ababa and Chennai – our newest and fourth destination in India – three times a week. In few months, we will add more cities on our route map including Bulawayo, our third destination in Zimbabwe, and Zurich, our second in Switzerland.

Our young and modern fleet is also growing year in, year out even amid the pandemic. In the past two years alone, we have received nearly 20 ultramodern airplanes including Airbus 350s, Boeing 787s and Bombardier Q-400 aircraft.

As always, we are committed to doing what it takes to give you the best and most memorable journey with Ethiopian. And rest assured that our African-flavoured Ethiopian hospitality always awaits you onboard.

Have an enjoyable flight!
